NGCP’s Generators Conference strengthens industry partnerships and knowledge exchange

Power transmission service provider NGCP held its Generators Conference for 2024, aimed at fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among key players in the energy sector.

This year’s theme, "Reinforcing Partnerships through Deeper Appreciation of SO-Generator Roles," underscores the critical importance of cooperation and mutual understanding between NGCP as System Operator and generating companies.

The conferences for Visayas, Luzon and Mindanao were held separately, with key attendees from power generating companies, NGCP officials, the Department of Energy, the Energy Regulatory Commission, and other agencies from the power industry.

The said conference provided a unique platform for industry experts to engage in meaningful discussions on critical topics related to generator operation, system stability, transmission system outlook, the integration of renewable energy sources, and other significant incidents in the grid such as voltage fluctuations.

NGCP President and CEO Anthony L. Almeda emphasized NGCP’s commitment in maintaining the security and reliability of the power grid. “After 5 years, we revived this event to provide an opportunity for discussions on the highlights for every grid, NGCP’s plans and outlook, and how our companies can work to ensure that our programs are implemented in an efficient and effective manner," he said.

Moreover, Almeda underscored the importance of collaboration and building stronger partnerships with the generation companies and energy players in ensuring a better and sustainable energy sector. “The need for continuous improvement and constant communication with our stakeholders is key to the seamless operations of the entire power grid. As generation plays an important role in the Philippine energy landscape, your insights are important to us,” he added. ###
