NGCP’s relief operations is now in full swing to assist residents displaced by the ongoing conflict in Marawi, beginning with evacuees in Iligan City and Lanao del Norte.
Last May 26 and 27, 125 evacuees taking shelter at the Brgy. Maria Cristina Gym in Brgy. Maria Cristina and 223 evacuees housed at the Iligan National School of Fisheries in Brgy. Buruun received relief goods in the form of clothing and food packs from the grid operator, led by its District 2 Mindanao Operations and Maintenance team.
The activity, conducted in coordination with local barangay and city officials, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the PNP, and AFP, also reached 59 Marawi families housed at the Balo-i Municipal Gym and 47 families on pre-emptive evacuation from Brgy. Pagayawan, Bacolod, both in Lanao del Norte. More evacuation centers are targeted to be visited by the company’s relief ops team in the next few days.
“NGCP’s relief operations is activated as soon as any critical incident, whether fire,flood, earthquake, or man-made conflict, arises. More than just our duty to support our partner communities, it is our hope to boost the spirit of those displaced by the ongoing conflict in Marawi,” the company stated.
NGCP assures its customers and stakeholders, particularly the public, that it is continuously monitoring the situation and will look for opportunities to assist the affected communities. ###
